Chromebook Protection

The Nottingham School Technology Department is committed to enriching the educational experience for all students, aligning with our district’s goals. To assist students in completing assignments outside of school, each student in grades 6-8 is provided with a Chromebook, case and charger, which they may take home.

This year, we are excited to offer an optional insurance plan for the Chromebooks. This insurance provides coverage for potential damages, giving families added peace of mind. We encourage parents and guardians to consider this option to protect the devices throughout the school year. Those who do not have insurance, or if the damage is not accidental, will be charged accordingly.

Option #1-Insurance Coverage through Worth Ave. Group:

Purchase of the insurance policy will protect students from certain unexpected costs such as accidental damage (drops and spills), cracked screens and natural disasters. The insurance cost is $22 annually for each device. The coverage period is 8/21/2024-8/21/2025.

Enrollment Deadline for this Insurance: September 6, 2024

  • cracked screen
  • liquid spills/ submersion
  • fire/ flood damage
  • vandalism
  • natural disasters
  • power surge due to lightning
  • manufacturer defects & mechanical failure
  • theft/ burglary/ robbery
  • standard wear and tear
  • cosmetic damage

Option # 2- No Insurance

Damaged Chromebooks or devices failing to operate properly must be evaluated immediately by the IT Department. They will determine the cause of the damage or malfunction, the cost and timeline for repair or replacement, and whether the student is responsible for any portion of the cost due to misuse or neglect. Administrators will communicate these determinations to parents or guardians and discuss responsibility for repair/replacement as necessary.

The following is an estimate of the cost of repairs for common issues:

  • Entire Chromebook (11") - $269.00
  • Motherboard - $140
  • Keyboard and touchpad - $40
  • Touchpad (if separate and keyboard is OK) - $15
  • Screen (11") - $22
  • Charger - $20
  • Battery - $15
  • Case - $21
